Priced in video-minutes, not videos
A ninety-minute lecture is not the same amount of work as a three-minute clip, so plans carry an allowance of video-minutes per month rather than a count of videos.
Starter
$12 per month
For a few videos a month. Everything the larger plans do, with a smaller monthly allowance.
Creator
$29 per month
For working through a course, a conference track or a channel back catalogue at a steady pace.
Studio
$99 per month
For teams turning recorded talks, training and technical walkthroughs into written reference.
Why long videos count at 1.5x
Minutes past the 60-minute mark of a single video are deducted at one and a half times the rate. Processing a long recording is not linearly more expensive than a short one: more of it has to be held at once, and a single failure late in a run costs everything before it. Charging a flat rate would mean short videos subsidising long ones.
What drives the cost of a video
How much changes on screen, rather than how long it runs. Frames are deduplicated before anything reads them, so a slide held for two minutes is read once rather than sixty times. In two measured runs a 51.5-minute video analysed 71 frames while a 27.5-minute video analysed 230. The shorter, denser one was the more expensive of the two.
What happens when an allowance runs out
Submissions stop until the allowance resets or the plan is changed. Nothing is charged automatically beyond the monthly price, and no job starts that the allowance cannot cover, so a single long video cannot produce a surprise bill.
Can I try it before subscribing?
Yes. New accounts get a one-off trial allowance rather than a recurring free tier, which is enough to run a real video of your own and read the output before deciding. There is no card required to use it.
